Questions About What to Expect
What does a yard look like immediately after stump grinding?
Right after grinding, the area has a shallow depression filled with wood chips roughly 4 to 6 inches deep. Once raked level, the spot blends into the surrounding yard and is ready for grass seed, mulch, sod, or whatever you have planned.
How big is the wood chip pile after stump grinding?
The chip volume is proportional to the stump size. A typical mid-sized residential stump (18 to 24 inches in diameter) produces a mound about a foot deep and a few feet wide. You can spread the chips as free mulch or have us haul them away.
How long after grinding before I can plant grass over the spot?
You can rake the chips level and seed or sod the area right away. Some minor settling may occur in the first season as the remaining buried roots decompose, but grass establishes normally and the spot will match the surrounding lawn within one growing season.
Will the equipment leave tire tracks or ruts in my lawn?
Our machines are designed to minimize ground disturbance. On soft or recently watered ground there may be light tracks, but we take care to protect the surrounding turf during every job and clean up the work area before leaving.
