Nebraska Stump Busters

Tree Stump Grinding & Removal Services

Two ways to clear a stump - and honest guidance on which one your yard actually needs.

What Is Stump Grinding and What Does It Leave Behind?

A stump grinder mechanically shreds the stump and surface roots down below grade. What's left is a shallow bed of wood chips where the stump used to be - no tripping hazard, no mower obstacle, no home for pests.

You choose what happens to the chips: keep them as free mulch for beds and trees, or have us haul them away. We confirm your preference before every job - it's also a checkbox on our quote form.

Grinding is the best fit when you want the area ready to reseed with grass or mulch over quickly, at a lower cost than full extraction.

When Should You Choose Full Stump Removal?

Full stump removal extracts the entire stump and root ball from the ground, leaving a completely cleared site. It's more involved than grinding, but sometimes it's exactly what the project calls for.

Choose full removal when you're planting a new tree in the same spot, pouring concrete, building a shed or addition, or need the ground completely free of roots. If the area will be covered with a hard surface or load-bearing structure, grinding alone may not be sufficient - removing the root ball entirely gives you a clean foundation to work from.

How Do We Calculate Your Free Stump Grinding Quote?

Every quote is free and based on two simple measurements: the stump's diameter and its height above ground. Measure across the widest part of the stump, tell us roughly how tall it stands, and we'll take it from there - request your free quote here.

A photo helps but is not required. Once you submit the form, we review the details and respond with a price - no in-person visit needed for most jobs. If we need to see the stump before finalizing the number, we will let you know. Multiple stumps can be quoted together, and combining them in a single visit is almost always more cost-effective than separate trips.

Questions About Our Services

How long does a typical stump grinding job take?

Most single residential stumps take 30 minutes to an hour. Larger stumps or jobs with multiple stumps take longer. We can give you a time estimate along with your free quote so you know what to plan for.

Can you grind multiple stumps in one visit?

Yes. List every stump on the quote form - pricing for multiple stumps scheduled in one visit is generally more cost-effective than separate trips. Include the diameter and height of each stump and we will quote them together.

Does stump grinding damage the surrounding lawn?

Our machines are designed to work with minimal disturbance to the surrounding turf. There may be minor surface scuffing from equipment movement on soft ground, but we take care to protect the rest of the yard and rake the work area before leaving.

Are hardwood stumps harder to grind than softwoods?

Yes - dense hardwoods like oak, elm, and black walnut take more time than softer species like pine or cottonwood. We quote based on diameter and height rather than species, so the price you receive covers the full job regardless of wood type.

Not sure which service you need?
